TimeFlow

Introduction

Time Flow is a special designed scheduler to keep track on running processes. While Date Book can only help to organize events on regular daily time slots, Time Flow opens up a new dimension to manage processes along the entire time line.

Basic Concept

There are 5 types of running process entries. When a new entry is going to be created. The first thing is to select a suitable type.

Age - counting the total elapse time with reference to a start time.

Countdown - counting the remaining time with reference to a end time.

Progress - counting the current position of a process with reference to a time range.

Recurrent - counting the current position of a recurrent process with reference to a time range.

Process - counting the current position of a process that compose of a sequence of subtasks with reference to a start time.

Instant Status

Current position of each running process are recalculated within a short interval such that an up-to-date status report can be seen on the main screen for instant information. Depending on the process type and the actual time span, a number of display formats are available for proper presentation.

Age

Age type helps keeping track on the current age that counting from a specific start time. In general, the start time could be past time such that the current age is calculated. However, it is still possible to specify a future start time. In this way, before the actual time has passed the start time, a negative age will be shown.

A number of display formats are available for selection out of different time units ranging from Year to Second.

In addition, there is a format called "Automatic". It will automatically switch format between Seconds, Min/Sec, Hr/Min/Sec, Day/H/M/S and Year according to the time scale.

Frequently of alarm reminders could be set at 4 levels, namely, Annually, Monthly, Weekly or Daily. It makes setting repeating alarms simple.

Whenever a future start time has been specified. An alarm will be set to remind when the process starts counting.

Countdown

Countdown type serves as a countdown timer for a specific end time. Simply input the precise time of a future event. Remaining time towards the specific time will be showed for reference.

Similar to Age, same format list is available for selection.

Alarm reminder can be set to When Timed Out such that it reminds upon the end time has been reached.

Progress

Progress type helps to monitor the status of a simple process having a definite start time and duration. Then the current position of the process will be shown for reference.

It allows duration to be specified in units ranging from Second to Year.

Apart from showing a simple percentage figure, two more formats are available to show the progress with a graphical bar.

Alarm reminder can be set to When Completed such that it reminds upon the completion of the process.

In fact, a future start time will also be accepted. In this case, an alarm will be set to remind when the process starts counting.

Recurrent

Recurrent type helps to monitor the status of a repeating process having a definite start time, duration and a repeating count if applicable. Then the current position of the process will be shown for reference.

In addition to simple progress formats like Progress type, it shows a completion count of the current process. It is useful especially when the duration is long.

Alarm reminder can be set to either Every Completion such that it reminds upon the completion of each cycle, or When Completed such that it reminds upon the completion of the entire process.

In fact, a future start time will also be accepted. In this case, an alarm will be set to remind when the process starts counting.

Process

Process type helps to monitor the status of a process consisting of a sequence of tasks. Then the current position of the process will be shown for reference.

In addition to simple progress formats like Progress type, it shows the current task name as well as it current progress.

Alarm reminder can be set to When Task Started such that it reminds upon a new task has just started, When Task Completed such that it reminds upon a task has finished, or When Process Completed such that it reminds upon the completion of the entire process.

In fact, a future start time will also be accepted. In this case, an alarm will be set to remind when the process starts counting.

Process List

A number of processes can be defined and organized in the Process List. Thus it would be very convenient if a new Process entry could be created by simply recalling a pre-defined process in the Process List.

Defining a Process

A Process is defined by a sequence of tasks. Each task may has its own duration specified.

It is free to change the duration of each task whenever necessary. Moreover, it is also free to change the order of the task sequence. Simply drag a task entry around and drop at the right position, the task order will be altered.

The total time required to complete the entire process is calculated automatically for instant reference.

Alarm Reminders

Detailed information about the alarm will be shown in alarm reminder for reference.

Apart from alarm sound, it also supports vibration and flash light special effects that come with Palm m500 series.

Other Features

In order to suit different individual needs, it is still possible further customize the application with some user preference settings.

Completed old entries can be deleted easily with a handy purge function.

Compatibilities

Time Flow works with Palm OS 3.1 or above.
